Project Profile: |
The client had a restriction on watts per square foot for his new facility.
The first option to meet this criterion was to uses a combination of fluorescent and incandescent lamps. Due to the unique lighting requirements of a church sanctuary or theater-like setting where light quality is essential, this option was not favored.
The designer recommended an LED down-light solution using a quantity of eighty of Affineon Lighting's DL series LED down lights in conjunction with a white light dimmable DMX electronic theater control system from Candela Controls Inc. The solution not only met the watts per square foot criteria, but maintained the integrity of the light quality, even when dimmed. The long lamp life of LEDs also addressed another concern of the client's regarding maintenance cost. Lamp replacement can be an expensive issue for many fixed seat venues, as well as being extremely inconvenient. The fixtures are currently being staged and tested at Candela's facility prior to installation. Fixture installation begins mid July 2009 and project completion is slated for late fall 2009. |
