Affineon Lighting, a privately held company that manufactures and develops high performance LED lighting fixtures for architectural and commercial applications, announced today that it's Bay series fixture, which uses Cree LED's has been installed at Cree's employee gymnasium at their corporate headquarters in Durham, North Carolina.

"The High Bay Series fixture looks like most typical bay fixtures but with a designer flair but we've used an LED engine populated with Cree LED's instead of the typical HID lamp" stated Woody Smith, CEO of Affineon Lighting.  "The project replaced 28, 350 watt fixtures with an equal amount of Affineon LED High Bay fixtures which only draw 180 watts of power each. The LED lights delivered over 65% more lumens to the gym floor while cutting the energy usage by 49%. When you start looking at those types of figures it can be a very compelling argument for change."

The Solar Decathlon was initiated by the U.S. Department of Energy in 1999. Its main goals are to educate the general public about renewable energy and the technologies available to reduce energy consumption, as well as to clearly demonstrate that solar houses can be built without sacrificing energy efficiency or comfort.
The UF Solar Decathlon Team was one of only two U.S. universities in the competition and finished 8th overall, while winning first place in the people's choice award. For the decathlon, 19 university teams from around the world competed against each other to build the best 797-square-foot modular sustainable home, according to criteria in 10 different areas including lighting. The house will be returned to Gainesville to be put on display at the Florida Museum of Natural History

WFX is an event in which church leadership teams connect with tools and technology to create meaningful spaces for a powerful worship experience.Affineon shared the honor with BlueShift Technology Group of Orlando, Florida who design and configure the DMX lighting controls for Affineon's dimmable white LED downlight DL Series fixture.
